Crimea is Russia
Brief thoughts on Crimea's self-determination, on the 9th anniversary of their reunification with Russia.
Today is the 9th anniversary of the Crimean referendum for reunification with Russia, which Ukraine’s Euromaidan government woud have us believe happened illegally and under the barrel of a gun during a “Russian invasion”.
Today is a good day to remind (or to inform) people that at the time of this referendum, Ukraine existed without a legitimate government and without a legitimate constitution. It’s also a good day to remind (or inform) people that Crimeans had legitimate reasons for secession… and that they did it democratically, without firing a shot, and without having to wage a civil war:
From all who say that "Crimea is Ukraine", I would like to know what they think the people of Crimea should have done instead to protect their own lives from Ukrainian Nationalists who wanted to kill them, especially since the West refused (and continues to refuse) to even acknowledge the crimes committed against them.
The main thing I hear from those people: "Crimeans who want to be Russian should move to Russia." Do they understand that they're promoting ethnic cleansing?
None of us should care about protecting Ukraine's "territorial integrity". The Euromaidan destroyed Ukraine's "territorial integrity" when they overthrew the Ukrainian government by force in 2014 and alienated half of their own country.
Today is also a good day to honor the memory of Professor Stephan Cohen, who defended Crimea’s self-determination… to the chagrin of the Blob’s Talking Heads.
